About Me

Ever since I was a small child I wanted to work with animals. I almost went straight into a veterinary medicine degree when I left school, but at the last minute I realised I wanted to study biology more broadly. I graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2014 with a 2.i in Natural Sciences, specialising in Zoology. My first degree was fascinating and I don’t regret it for a moment, but I’ve now decided I need to go back to university and become a vet.

I currently work full time in the water industry, an opportunity I’m very grateful for but one I know isn’t for me long-term. I’m doing all of my work experience for returning to uni in holidays, weekends and evenings; I also put most of my paycheck away in the “vet school fund” each month, because there is no tuition fee loan for a second undergraduate degree. It may take me a while, but I’m determined to become a vet!

Thanks for reading,

Caitlin x

  1. Hi Caitlin, I loved reading your account of the Open Day from the prospective student perspective. Just read your About Me and it sounds like you’ve had an interesting journey already! Very best of luck for your path to vet school 🙂
